He's away on a school residential holiday for the weekend... caving and walking... Can't wait for him to come home! It's too quiet!

  

 

Cat in the Hat ~ Zach's world book day costume

World book day was on 5th March 2009.  Every year, its one of the creative chances I get make a book character costume.  I was made up this year when Zach said he wanted to be Cat in the Hat !

So here my version of Cat in the Hat....

What makes a day memorable for you?

Over Summer, one of my favorite days was taking 8 children out for the atfernoon with my lovely friend Paula. 

The sun was hot and the kids were happy but wet from the stream.  They spent time laughing and building a "dry wall" (to quote Lily).

Wildcats

Yes!  Like most of you today, we watched High School Musical 2 on Disney! 

We set the projector up and turned the living room into a comfy cinema! Boy, watching those Wildcats strut their funky dance moves at the Lava Springs Country Club makes me wish I had a job like that when I was younger.

My fav was Mr Fulton.  He made me laugh.  We had to play some games on disney but we have downloaded the employee pack.  I can't wait to cut out my employee badge he hee.

The boys said when they get up in the morning, they are going to watch it again so I am sure we will have the song lyrics nailed by the end of the weekend...

It's beautiful

I went on my first school trip with Zachariah yesterday!  60+ of us hurried onto the coach, giggling with excitement as we headed to Blue Planet! 

When Zachariah was asked how does a starfish move in the water, he replied "it's beautiful"

Awwagh bless him!

You know you need to spring clean when...

... Your four year old looks up, shudders and says "erregh mum... there is a little bat on the ceiling, a tiny bat..."

Yes that is the time to think about getting out the duster to sweep away the cobwebs!

Is that a boy I see with a moustache?

We went to Nando's and they gave the boys little bags to play with.  Z got a chalkboard and R got 4 stick on moustaches!  What great fun...

Made of the good stuff!

I love children.  Even with life being hard over the last month or so, the boys have still been having lots of fun!  They have been busy indeed...

First there was making cheese and onion pies at Grandma's house

Friends for tea and a lovely walk down by the canal

Then it was - Mum can you make me a FISH?  erm... yes Zacharaiah...

The whole family enjoyed a beautiful rainy afternoon in the forest which was great fun.  Dad pretended to get stuck in the bog which made everyone laugh when his wellie came off!

We had a great day out seeing Blackpool illuminations (which took two and a half hours to drive through - cold - but luckily we had blankets to keep us toasty!)

Gradings for Karate!  Rupert is now a purple belt and Zach has just received his white belt with yellow stripe.

Zach was the farmer in the turnip song at school.  Well done Zach!

Finally today, Rupert enjoyed the Viking Day at School. A REAL viking came for the day to share with year 4 about the vikings!  Me and Rupert made his costume from one of dads shirts, and old scarf, a belt from the bottom of mum's wardrobe, a cardboard sword and shield, a paper mache helmet with paper visor (adapted from the spaceman helmet from a previous birthday party), a pocket of viking coins in a little purse, a brooch printed off the internet and arm rings made from tinsel and selotape. 

Wow, I've actually managed to post today -  it's been a while.  Oh! how nice it is to be back... x

Lots of glue and sick

Thats what I feel like I have been doing this last week or so.  Its been a blustery sea with many waves!  Last weekend started out great with us catching up with some friends for a 60th birthday party and then I had that lovely walk with LIzanne but then.... busy life took over - too much too do and not enough time.

Oh and this little man has been ill... and no matter what he gets when he's ill is is always SICK as in PUKE...

Finally I have actually made some craft!!!!!

I organised a homemade cake table at chuch last Sunday to raise funds as there are a few people going on a mission soon so.  One of the men going thought we'd only raise about £60 - but then he hasn't seen me in action...he hee.  We raised £263 from the homemade cakes!  I'm a hard seller and completely ruthless when it comes to bartering (as in barter - have I spelt that right?)  We also receive donations of £100 and £250! I typed up some sponsor sheets and suggested that we advertise for the sponsored bike ride that the mission team were going to do and that raised another £381.  So in total the day was a great blessing £994 (+ a few pence) raised in total. £60 indeed!

In true Lindsey style though, I forgot to take pictures of the cake table (it was so neat and organised as well) The table was beautifully presented for the folks at church but I did manage to take these..

I made some simple tags for each cake.  On the back it said 'donated by' and 'contains'.  The card was cream with nice grey/silver print.

I also made thank you cards.  Again printed with a nice little button attached and placed in nice little brown envelopes.. sorry I have taken out the mission bit off but it isn't my place to broadcast other's activities is it?

   

So there you have it - my offering to the craft world.  Little tags and notes made on the computer with buttons. Not really that crafty is it? Oh well.

I'm off to see what Zach has done in his bedroom as I can hear lots of banging! He really wanted to go in school today but I thought it best to keep him off for the day - don't want him being sick in front of his new teacher!

Summer craft

Hope all you lovely mum bloggers are enjoying the summer holidays with your precious little ones.

The first week of the holiday and we have had rain this week :(  Hence lots of boy crafts.  Rupert has been making lots of great things. He especially likes this tie! 

We have got wet playing in the park, wet playing in the yard, wet at the shops, wet going to karate etc etc. How many pairs of jeans to wash on a wet week?

However, today the sunshine is back out! That means camping tomorrow for Rupert.  He is going away for the night with another family so hopefully he will have lots of camping fun :)
