Anyone fancy a cup of tea?

IN our house, the kettle is always on the stove as soon as my little legs can get me to the kitchen once the morning alarm has buzzed...

 

I love tea.... always a pot on the go in our house. Until recently I always drank tea which was on special offer at the local supermarket. Since moving house over the summer, I have surprised myself and found that my favorite cuppa is now that made of yorkshire tea.

 

SO when you stop by, please feel free to ask for a nice cuppa! I can make you a cup of coffee if you prefer but would much rather take you to Starbucks for that!

What makes a day memorable for you?

Over Summer, one of my favorite days was taking 8 children out for the atfernoon with my lovely friend Paula. 

The sun was hot and the kids were happy but wet from the stream.  They spent time laughing and building a "dry wall" (to quote Lily).

So nice to be back in blogland with all you lovely bloggers.  I will be back to daily posting even though I thought I would never get back here from being absent all summer.  You get so used to filling your time up with other 'important' things.  I am looking forward to catching up with the goings on over the last few months.  I think one or two of you will be with child now, some of your little darlings will have just started school etc and there will be one or two summer weddings I am sure.

Well to start where I left off.  London.  We had a lovely weekend and I thought I would share a few of my favorite memories.

My London advice:  Don't take three pairs of high heels - just 1 pair of flats will do!  Lesson learnt here!

Puppy love -

This little lady will be collected next week from her breeder and will then live with my mum and dad. 

This adorable minature Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was bought for mum and dad's 30th wedding anniversary which we celebrated recently. 

 

Mum has always wanted a dog like this and it was a delight for me and my sister to club together and with the help of Auntie Gwen we found this little lady.  We didn't tell mum and said we were going shopping to a new shopping centre down the motorway and then for lunch he hee.  She sat in the back of the car wondering why we were all going out for the day and didn't have the heart to tell us that she didn't want any new clothes for her anniversary as she had already bought some.  Mum loved her doggy surprise!  So did dad (although Vicky gave the game away to him last October by giving a breeder the home phone number as well as her mobile number)  Luckily for us he forgot and we made out that they were too expensive to buy!

My boys can't wait to see the new pup and take her for a walk etc etc (the list goes on and on.  I think Rupert wants to move into Grandma's house)

Homemade crafty Christmas Boxes

Unfortunately, I don't have 6 boxes to show you as Alex took pictures of them on my phone as he loaded them into the car on Christmas morning!  oh and I forgot to photograph James box, but never mind I can still show you 4 boxes.

We have a large number of children in the family and some special friends, so this year, I thought up a different theme for each one of them.

I can't show you the pictures of :-  (due to husband's inability to use my mobile phone to take pictures and he calls himself a tech head (actually he is normally very good at tech stuff) it was my phone on the blink)

I went to ikea and bought each box for 49p.  I then used some wonderful goodies of paper and letters that Greenbeanbaby sent me (thanks Ellia x) to decorate the tops of each of the boxes. 

A great buy was a childrens's fairy tale book that I bought for 10p which I used to cut out the pictures for the boxes.  The fairytales were all illustrated in different ways and so the pictures were different on each of the boxes.  I also used pictures from a 10p Star Wars book for Rupert and Judah's boxes!  What was nice is that all the children (apart from judah and sami) choose their own pictures.

Lily opted for lots of pictures of different girls for her box.  Maisie went for a lovely picture of hansel and gretal.  Kitty had lots of ducks and Josie went for cats and all sorts of animals.

Each box cost around £8 in total. (£3 over bugget on each but who cares eh?)

Along with sweets, lollipops, flumps, pencils, selotape, felt tips, little boxes, chocolate coins, glitter, glue, each box contained special gifts...

I made Joke books for Judah and Rupert.  For Sami, Zach, Josie, Lois and James, I made insect books. 

I had such fun making the boxes.  I've got a great idea for next year and each will cost £5!

Little Boy, Big School

Summer fun has ended.  No more noise. 

It's oh so quiet.  shhhh.  shhhhh.  It's oh so still.

Little boy no more... Big boy going to first day of big school.

There was a photo of a boy with a smiley face but I didn't want you to see the school badge so you will have to have a peep at little now big boy in this lovely pose instead.

Mummy said

"as seen as it has been your first day at big school what special treat do you want today?  where would you like to go? what would you like to do?"

Zach replied..

   

Zach to daddy "Some of the children are in a different class now that isn't fair is it?"

First day of school brings no more of this (well erm.. until weekend?)

Finally, love going out to our cousin Lily on her first day of Senior School.  Hope you enjoy yourself and your new found independence!

Missing

We are enjoying the school holidays and we
are having lots of fun! But today is one of those
days when I feel like I am missing something. 
It started with having no tea bags this morning
so I missed my wake up cup of tea.

But then I discovered that....

I am missing... really missing....

Alex -  My sweet pea has only been home at the weekends for the last 8 weeks.  He has Just over 1 more week to go and he will be working locally for a while!  I take my hat off to all single parents out there as I am so tired and really feeling him being away! Roll on next week.

I am also missing...

The Friday morning girls over at Kristy's! Last time we met Steph made this wonderful lemon cake for us to share. I cut the cake and apparently I gave everyone 'a huge slice'.  Amazingly the girls ate up til their plates were clean!
(little note: I did have a brief encounter with Karen in Tesco's today but she elbowed me in the eye at customer services! What are friends for?)

Finally I am missing... Clare, a best friend and cousin. She came with the boys & new baby G last Thursday and popped into see us on the way to Kitty's house for her birthday. She has lived in Bradford for a few years now and we don't often get to meet up because of one thing and another. She goes to a great church - Abundant Life and is the kids pastor there.  Oh how I love to see her in God's house, serving, being creative and releasing dreams. The greatness of God shines in her and she is so happy.  We went along on Sunday night to the church and Matt (clare's welsh half) sang a song to kinda introduce Rock Nations youth conference that is happening this weekend coming.  Oh man the band were playing total rock and there is me crying - he sounded awesome - the Hoops definately rocked for J!

Anyway I'm off to make a cup of tea now that I have some tea bags.

Erm..actually I am not missing them now I have finished typing this post!
