I got tagged by kristy at vintage pleasure over two weeks ago. However, I enjoy reading other peoples blogs so much over a lovely hot cup of tea that I never have time then to post myself. Anyway I have decided to leave vintage tupperware thursday alone for a week and concentrate on getting this post out of the way. So here goes....
10 things that i love
1. Got to be Jesus at the top of the list. I have been a christian since being 12 and I can honestly say that God has never left my side though I have wandered off a few times. I Love church, love serving, love praying, love worshipping, love the word, love…..
2. My lovely (and very patient) husband. Like many husbands, he is loving, reliable, kind, generous, hard working, great dad, do anything for anyone, knows the word of God, serves with his all and loves me 24 7 no matter what the day brings (even when he has a diabetic hypo when he wakes up - those are funny days in our house). So to Alex, 143 :)
3. In at number 3 is my BOYS. Yes my beautttttiffffullll boys. Rupert (8) and Zachariah (4). I’ve already introduced you to the cute Zach and soon I will introduce you to the handsome Rups. (though he will be embarrassed at the handsome bit – “oh mum!”)
4. Family and friends. Though as I have got older, my friend base has got smaller but the ones I have are very special to me and I value & need them all in different ways as they are all so important to my life.
Family are family and are always there to help, love and guide you. My mum is a rock, my sister is a star and my dad is great. Everyone else in our family are like second parents and sisters etc – I think I have been greatly blessed as we are all quite close. I don’t know who my biological father is but I would love to meet him one day... I think…
5. I love my pacemaker. (well this is now my 4th). Why you say? Well due to a heart condition – ASD artnal septal defect, Patent arteral duct and viserceral heterohixia with absent inferior vena cava – basically my pacemaker paces my heart and fills in the missing beats my heart doesn’t naturally make (my own heart beats around 30 beats a minute). So I am blessed by God to be alive; me and my family thought I would die young but here I am at 33 and still going strong. Praise God for he knows the plans he has for me! (he also knows the plans he has for you too.)
6. Fashion I love, shoes I love, bags I love, scarves I love, bangles and bits & bobs I love. I think I will have to do flashback Friday and dig out some old photos.
I think that all eras got style (yes even the 80’s) and I never get tired of looking at magazines (esp.old copies of vogue), books, programmes about clothes etc. I wouldn’t say I dress trendy in the latest fad (maybe a few bits and pieces cheaply done) but I appreciate good fabrics, nice lines, designers who take a chance, curves, great accessories, bold and unusual prints and the history of couture.
The people who I like are Madeleine Vionnet, Christian Dior, Cristobel Balenciaga, Augusta Bernard, Hardy Amies, Sir Norman Hartnell, Louise Boulanger, Jean Desses, Charles James, Coco Chanel, Emanuel Ungaro, Marchese Emilio Pucci, Mary Quant, Pierre Cardin, Zoran, Bill Gibb, Ralph Lauren, Christian Lacroix, Gianni Versace (not Donatella though) Ossie Clark, John Galliano, Stephen Burrows, Jean Paul Gaultier, Thea Porter, Stephen Sprouse, Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford, Philip Treacy, Hussein Chalayan, Bruce Oldfield, Catherine Walker… to name but a few…
7. I love music. All kinds except I don’t like things like thrash metal, silly party music… opps upside your head etc.., poppy lovey chart music that is rubbish and full of silly people dancing. I love Morrissey and the Smiths, Nirvana, Madchester bands, Blur, Pulp, Animals, Kinks, Franz Ferd, Coldplay, dance/trance, Abundant Life, Hillsong, oh the list goes on and on. Lets leave it there for now (I got a bit carried away with no.6)… can I say though I am getting appreciative of jazz and classical in my old age…
8. I love media, animation, photography. I started a photography course at night school a couple of years back but didn’t get to finish it as the tutor went off with stress and I gave birth to Rupert. I don’t have a camera at the minute (someone spilt tea on it at mums and tots) so I am using my camera phone but its not very good. I am waiting for some pennies to buy a new one. I do have a 35mm with various lenses so I should get this out in the meantime but I can’t be bothered to get the films printed. Don’t you find digital so much easier?
I have done a 2 year media course and I loved it. Might go to uni but it is difficult with two boys and a husband who is always away. I met my tutor again in tesco last week and she said I should apply. I did get an AA so I know I am not thick… and I would enjoy it. We’ll see… maybe I'll go and do fashion instead. Once I get all my work back from college, I might post some of it (especially the animation work).
I love art and crafty bits n bobs but I prefer to read all your amazing blogs to see what you are making, knitting, sewing, glueing etc as I don’t have any time to sit down and be crafty. I leave that to my cousin at vintage pleasure. Though I am in the middle of knitting a small yellow bear and will post it when I have finished - just one leg to knit, stuff and give him a face.
9. I love Formula 1. I don't have a favorite team but I must say I am impressed by Fernando Alonso. He is an excellent driver and I hope he wins this season. I also like Fisichella, Montoya, Nico Rosberg and Villeneuve. I have never seen it live but would love to go to Monte Carlo. Monaco looks sooooo nice. I would settle for Silverstone I suppose if I really had too.
10. I love Tupperware.. Vintage Tupperware.. New Tupperware.. Enough said.. Check out Vintage Tupperware Thursday.
And finally...
11. I know it was suppose to be 10 but I love drinking tea. I’m addicted and drink quite a lot of tea (but I do use skimmed milk and that makes it ok?). I should cut down really but I just love tea!
